Barn conversion

For our fourth project for this loyal client, we were invited to renovate some dilapidated barns at this rural Hampshire farmhouse. The barn required completely redesigning and rebuilding on the existing footprint, gaining relevant approvals.  Alex worked alongside a traditional oak frame building contractor to design the new double storey space, mixing traditional building techniques and materials with large modern steel doors and windows to create a spacious home office, gym and guest accommodation taking in to account the stunning country setting.  This project was finished in time for guests arriving to celebrate Christmas, complete with crisp new bedlinen for the beds and beautiful glassware for drinks in the gym bar.

We have worked with the Alexandra Young team on several occasions.
When we decided to redevelop our garage / stable block we had no hesitation in working with them again. The building was dilapidated and a single story.

The design Alex came up with was an oak framed, double storey gym, office and flat with garage storage. We really appreciated the use of internal glazing allowing light to flood into the second floor which is built into the eves and could otherwise have been quite dark.

The team fitted out the building from top to bottom – all furnishing, joinery, lighting, flooring and finishes even including the coffee machines; all three of them!

The whole team were a joy to work with which is extremely important to us. The positive relationships they have developed with the builders made the project an extremely happy one. They were there to support and assist us with even our smallest queries.

We are absolutely delighted with the final result, and we could not recommend Alex and her team more both in terms of design and their approach to working with their clients.
